James founded FundOnion out of sheer frustration and determination after repeatedly watching founders get left in the dark when raising capital during his years as a corporate lawyer. Ever since, he's been on a mission to deconstruct and revolutionise the business finance space, stripping away the unnecessary complexity and lack of transparency that keeps businesses from getting the funding they need. As CEO, James loves the variety of working across every part of the business - from speaking with clients to spearheading product strategy to diving into the data to understand what SMEs really need. He's passionate about advocating for a better and fairer SME funding landscape not just through FundOnion but on an industry level, regularly sitting at Government roundtables to drive systemic change. When he's not running FundOnion, James enjoys running, writing, and meditating - solo activities that help him de-stress, gain clarity, and challenge himself.
